Japanese Connection was founded fall quarter of the 2002-2003 school year as a replacement for the old anime club Section9Nine. The new purpose of the club was to not only be about anime, but to provide experiences in all other parts of Japanese culture. Of course, anime is still the club's strongest focus, but other club activities include participating in the annual Cherry Blossom Festival and interacting with students from Ohio University's sister school in Japan, Chubu University.
Meetings are held weekly, usually from 7PM to 9PM in Gordy Hall Room 301. Showings are held every Friday night from 6PM to 12AM in Morton Hall Room 237.
Membership dues are $20/year or $10/quarter. Although non-members are welcome to come to meetings and showings, being a member confers voting rights on quarterly series and club matters, and associated club benefits, like discounts from local comic book stores. Membership also allows you to get group discounts for the annual trip to Ohayocon, an anime convention in Columbus, Ohio. Membership is open to the public, it is not necessary to be an OU student. To become a member, simply show up to a club meeting or event and pay the treasurer your dues.
If you have any other questions about JCON, please either contact the president or come to a meeting.
