How do I get started?

To become a member of WellWorks there are two basic steps you need to complete to help ensure your health and safety while exercising in our facility. If you have any questions along the way please contact us. We hope to see you soon!

Step #1 - Enrollment /Cholesterol Screening

Fill out an enrollment form (See FORMS link). This form is designed to help assess your risk for heart disease and is used for screening purposes.

A non-refundable fee of $35 is required when you return your enrollment form. This fee is used for the cholesterol/glucose screening at the Athens Medical Lab, Comprehensive Health Assessment, Results Review and Orientation, and to process your membership information.

NOTE: We MUST have your enrollment form before you can move forward in the enrollment process. Enrollment forms are kept on file for six months only.

Step #2 - Comprehensive Health Assessment, Results Review, an Orientation

Once we receive your cholesterol results, you will receive a call to schedule your Health Assessment. Those who are at low-moderate risk for heart disease or with no contraindications to exercise will schedule an appointment for an assessment. (Those who have a metabolic disease may be asked to get clearance from their doctor that it is appropriate for them to begin an exercise program.)

This appointment will last approximately 30 minutes and will be divided into three parts:

Part I: Resting measurements of heart rate and blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference, and 3-site skini fold measurements (optional).

Part II: An analysis of your risk stratification, review of your cholesterol screening, as well as your results from your health assessment. Your personal exercise goals will be addressed and recommendations for beginning or modifying an exercise program will be set. An optional equipment orientation will also be available to those interested. The equipment orientation will overview proper equipment use as well as appropriate resistance and intensity for each individual.

Part III: a brief orientation to other services WellWorks has to offer.

NOTE: You are not a "member" until all steps are completed and you have paid membership fees. You may pay the $5 visitor fee each visit until you've completed the process.
