Appalachians: A Contemporary Cultural Perspective

This important multi-faceted project represents a unique and important challenge to traditional representations and stereotypes of Appalachian identity and culture, and explores the current perspective of Appalachia and how Appalachians identify themselves in various forms of cultural and aesthetic expression. The project includes an exhibition, literary and film symposia, musical performances, family events, gallery talks, and studio tours. During this Ohio Bicentennial year, Appalachians: A Contemporary Cultural Perspective celebrates southeastern Ohio’s Appalachian community and heritage.
