就在大家喜迎春节的时候，对于俄亥俄大学 (Ohio University) 的刘子奇同学来说，骨癌，这一不幸的消息却比戊子年的新春祝福来得更早些。
刘子奇同学来自湖北省， 2003 年武汉大学毕业后来到俄亥俄大学攻读细胞分子生物学专业 (Molecular Cellular Biology Program) 博士，现为五年级博士生。正当子奇同学全心投入准备博士论文的时候，却于上个月 (2008 年 1 月 ) 被诊断出腿部患有骨癌 , 并且在肺部发现了骨癌细胞。这对于一位只有 27 岁 , 前途一片光明的年轻人来说 , 无疑是一个晴天霹雳。
For most of us, despite the cold conditions of winter, the month of February is filled with celebration, love, warmth, and friendship with holidays like the Spring Festival and Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, for one student, February means something entirely different. For this student, the month of February is filled with one of the most difficult battles in life—the struggle for hope, the tumult and strife of chemotherapy—the battle against cancer.
